Your keepsake is made in our Sydney workshop by experienced jewellers using traditional bench techniques and solid precious metals. We never use pre-made jewellery blanks.

Your Inclusions Sit Safely Inside the Jewellery

The surface you see and touch is genuine crystal, giving your keepsake the look and feel of traditional fine jewellery while keeping your inclusions visible beneath.

Made to Last
Inspired by 19th-century reliquary jewellery, Time Capsules are designed around the same idea: protecting precious mementos beneath crystal. We’ve reimagined that centuries-old concept for modern keepsake jewellery.

Time Capsules hold your inclusions within a sealed, waterproof compartment beneath genuine crystal.

Unlike our Classic Keepsakes, your inclusions do not form the exposed surface of the jewellery. The surface you see and touch is real crystal, protecting what is held beneath from everyday contact and wear while giving your keepsake the look and feel of traditional fine jewellery.

Depending on the keepsake you choose, your inclusions may be preserved, arranged or gently pressed within the compartment before the crystal is permanently set in place.

Time Capsules can hold breastmilk, ashes, hair, flowers, fabric and many other meaningful inclusions.

1. Send your inclusions 
After ordering, you'll receive an email with instructions for safely packaging and sending your inclusions to our Sydney workshop.

2. We check them in 
When your inclusions arrive they are carefully checked, documented and securely stored with your order. We’ll let you know they’ve arrived safely.

3. Your keepsake is made by hand
Your order then enters our creation queue. Each keepsake is individually handcrafted in our Sydney workshop, with a turnaround of approximately 10 weeks from the arrival of your inclusions.

4. We keep you updated
You’ll receive updates along the way so you know where your keepsake is up to throughout the process.

5. Your keepsake comes home
Once complete, we’ll let you know and send your finished jewellery with tracked shipping. Your preserved milk is kept on file for future orders or repairs. All other unused inclusions are returned with your keepsake.

Breastmilk
Please send 2–15mL (up to 1 tablespoon) of milk in a sterile breastmilk storage bag with as much air removed as possible.
If your milk is frozen please make sure you defrost it and mail it to us in a sterile milk storage bag. Your milk does not need to stay cold in transit.

Ashes
Please send approximately ½ teaspoon. Any ashes not used in your keepsake will be carefully returned with your completed jewellery.

Hair
Please send a small pinch, approximately 5mm thick. If you would like a ringlet-style placement, please ensure the hair is at least 5cm long.

Placenta / Umbilical Cord
Please send one placenta capsule or a 5–10mm dried section of umbilical cord.

Sand / Soil
Please send approximately ½ teaspoon. Soil cannot be sent internationally, so this option is available for Australian orders only.

Flowers
Please send 2–4 petals from each flower. Flowers must be completely dried for at least 3 weeks and free from pests before being sent to us.

For the most reliable fit, we recommend using a physical ring sizing kit rather than relying on printed charts or converted measurements. We suggest an inexpensive US ring sizing set with individual plastic or metal rings, which can be ordered online.

Wear the sizing rings several times throughout the day, as finger size can change with temperature, activity and time of day. Your chosen size should slide comfortably over the knuckle without feeling tight, but should not feel loose once in place.

Our workshop works in US ring sizes as this is the standard measurement on tools, so choosing your size directly from a US sizing kit helps avoid inaccuracies that can occur when converting between sizing systems.

Please choose your size carefully, as our keepsake rings cannot be resized once made. We recommend measuring multiple times before placing your order.

Every Milk & Stone Time Capsule is handcrafted in solid, nickel-free precious metal.

Argentium Silver 
Bright, tarnish-resistant silver requiring less maintenance than traditional sterling silver.

Jewellers’ Brass 
A warm antique-gold tone and an accessible alternative to solid gold. Brass naturally develops a patina and requires regular polishing.

Brass may leave a temporary green or dark mark on some people’s skin. This is harmless and can be removed easily with soap and water. If your skin reacts to brass, applying a thin coat of clear nail polish to the inside of the band can create a barrier between the metal and your skin.

9K Gold 
Durable solid gold available in Yellow, Rose and Palladium White Gold.

14K Gold 
Higher gold content with a richer colour, available in Yellow, Rose and Palladium White Gold.

Our Palladium White Gold is naturally white and does not require rhodium plating.

Your Time Capsule is designed to be worn and treasured, but like all fine jewellery, it still needs a little care.

Caring for your keepsake
Time Capsules are waterproof, but waterproof does not mean indestructible. Avoid exposure to chlorine, salt water, cleaning products, perfumes, lotions, sanitiser and other harsh chemicals, as these can affect both precious metals and crystal over time.

Remove your keepsake for heavy or manual activities where it may be knocked, caught or scratched, including gym work, gardening, cleaning, moving furniture or using tools.

Warranty
Our workmanship warranty covers manufacturing defects for 24 months from the date you receive your keepsake.

The warranty does not cover normal wear, accidental damage, misuse, chemical exposure, loss, damage caused by impact, or alterations and repairs carried out outside Milk & Stone.

Because your inclusions are natural and sentimental materials, slight changes in colour or appearance may occur over time. Handmade variations in finish, texture and appearance are also considered part of the individual nature of each keepsake.
